The July Roundup 🌞
ICYMI. The July Roundup — group therapy is back this fall❗️, changing your attachment patterns ❤️🩹, how to actually validate yourself 🫂, and why you deserve to take yourself seriously 🥇.
Welcome to The Roundup - a monthly overview (and recap) of all the articles + content we’ve shared this month, plus reminders, updates + curated resources for you to save, download or pass along to someone who needs it!
As therapists we get lots of data that help us see what folks in our direct community are experiencing, how people are interacting with each other (on a micro and macro level), and the topics and issues on the top of people’s minds as they move through the world.
The major themes for this month (across the board) were:
Can you change your attachment style? We get this question a lot when our clients are struggling with feeling super anxious or checked out in their relationships. The good news is yes, your attachment patterns can definitely change with new relationship experiences + therapy + other supports. The bad news is that this is difficult work that takes time, and navigating the world of relationships in the meantime can be really painful and challenging.
Helpful vs. unhelpful anxiety: While anxiety is usually never a comfortable feeling to hold space for, it may at times be trying to give us helpful messages about what matters to us and what we need to do. Next time you feel anxious, stop and consider what actually needs a response from you and what else you may need to let go of.
Am I going in the right direction? We’re tuning into the mental and emotional squeeze when it comes to decision making for the big and small things in life (What is my purpose? Am I fulfilled? How do I plan my schedule this week? Where can I find more space in my schedule for me? How do I organize my time?). Here’s the thing: we can be curious and confused at the same time. We’re remembering that uncertainty, confusion, and the discomfort that comes with it is often necessary to push us in the direction of clarity. You heard it here first.
Any of the above resonate? Drop your comments, questions and reflections below and tell us what’s on your mind. We gotchu.
